STRONG HARD DISK ENCRYPTION TO LOCK DOWN LAPTOPS & PROTECT VITAL INFORMATION

Presented by:  ADPC, Inc.

Advances in mobile technology have given responders the tools to save lives and protect people in ways they could not have imagined in the past.  Unfortunately, the same beneficial mobility in information technology (IT) now puts confidential & vital information at risk.  When laptops are stolen or lost, the problem isn’t really property loss, it is the danger that personal or sensitive information will get into the wrong hands.  Police investigators carry information on their laptops that can make or break criminal cases or might even put innocent people at risk.

This seminar provides a tool for special attention & protection.

 FROM THREAT DETECTION TO PROSECUTION:
FIVE STEPS TO A SAFER CITY.
Presented by:  NICE Systems

As “homeland security” becomes part of the public safety dialect, growing numbers of cities & communities are investing in video surveillance networks to detect and deter threats, and investigate crime.  With these trends, public safety agencies are finding themselves on the front line when it comes to ensuring safer cities & communities.  At this seminar attendees will learn how to leverage proven processes & cutting edge technologies (like smart video, recording, lawful intercept & multimedia incident information management) at every stage in the security cycle to sharpen their situational awareness, improve their ability to detect, evaluate and respond to threats, streamline investigations, and close the gap on crime.

ISRAELI KRAV MAGA’S GLOBAL PROMINENCE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT
Sponsored by: Samzies Uniforms

The Israeli self-defense system, krav maga, has achieved global recognition for its efficiency, simplicity, and, when required, brutal effectiveness. Battle-tested and street-proven Israeli krav maga (“contact combat”) was developed for the Israel Defense Force as its official self-defense and close-quarters-combat system.  Krav maga was soon both adopted and adapted by the Israeli National Police. Israeli law enforcement needed a defensive tactics system based on utility, instinct, simplicity, and adaptability. Imi Lichtenfeld’s krav maga system has reached global prominence in military, law enforcement, and civilian circles.

The Four Steps to Action

When confronted with the threat of violence, the mind goes through a series of steps to choose a response. These reaction stages include the following:

1. Threat recognition.
2. Situation analysis.
3. Choice of action.
4. Action or inaction.

 Training as Real as Possible.

IKM training will help the Officer overcome fight paralysis that can easily set in.  The Officer will learn how to alleviate fear, panic and other sensations as he prepares the body and mind to take the proper course of action. The Officer will physically learn effective techniques while mentally adjusting to a harsh violent reality.

The New Jersey Chief’s Law Enforcement Challenge

The Law Enforcement Challenge is a competition between Law Enforcement  Departments.  It is a friendly way for departments to increase their attention to traffic safety, and provides opportunities for public recognition of exemplary programs, incentives for continuing traffic safety activities, and documentation of agency effectiveness that can be used for future grants.  Every agency does traffic safety programs to some degree, so participation does not require extra commitment on anyone’s part.  Merely documenting current activities has produced many winners.  This documentation can help provide accountability and prove the value of a strong traffic program.

Applications for the Chief’s Law Enforcement Challenge will be reviewed by a panel of three judges.  After the applications are judged they will be forwarded to the International Association of Chiefs of Police to be included in the national competition.

The winning safety programs are those that combine officer training, public information, and enforcement to reduce crashes and injuries within its jurisdiction.

“HOW TO ENTER THE CHIEFS LAW ENFORCEMENT CHALLENGE” WORKSHOP

The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police will be offering a “How to Enter the Law Enforcement Challenge” Workshop on Tuesday, June 24th at 1:00 pm in Room # 308/309 at the Police Security Expo.  The workshop will be for both first time participants and past participants of the Law Enforcement Challenge program.

Instruction will be giving by former and current Panel Judges from the New Jersey Chief’s Law Enforcement Challenge. Instructors will provide helpful tips and application procedures.  Participants will receive a Step-by-Step overview to preparing a comprehensive Challenge application.

 Who should attend?

This workshop is geared for the person responsible for completing the application.  However, Chiefs and other supervisors are welcome to attend.

OLDER DRIVERS LAW ENFORCEMENT COURSE

The Baby Boomers in our nation will be turning 65 years old by 2011.  By 2030 those over 65 will become the largest segment of our population and many of them will still be driving.  Statistics reveal that older drivers have the second highest fatality rate.  As the older population begins to grow drivers 65 years and older are expected to be involved in 16% of all crashes and 25% of all fatal crashes. The Older Driver population has become the fastest growing population group in America.

The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will present a program on law enforcement’s role with older drivers.  The course will identify the primary concerns for law enforcement as it relates to our aging population and provides state specific responses by law enforcement to the problem.

Due to this high traffic fatality rate for elders, law enforcement will need special skills to deal with this growing traffic safety concern.  The Older Drivers Law Enforcement course will provide information on identifying at-risk drivers, appropriate enforcement actions, suggest opportunities to improve community relations and discuss the referral process to licensing authorities.
